Role
of the Association
The Master Florists Association is active in all of the following areas:
- Sponsoring educational opportunities such as floral design shows,
seminars, and workshops, and awarding scholarships for students at the local
colleges.
- Providing a forum for discussion of industry-related problems and
concerns, and developing action programs to meet them.
- Promoting the use and enjoyment of flowers through every means possible,
particularly in connection with holidays and commemorative occasions such as
Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Graduation, Thanksgiving, Christmas,
Professional Administrative Assistants Week, and Sweetest Day.
- Monitoring state and local legislation to ensure that floral industry
interests are represented and protected.
- Maintaining an ongoing campaign to combat “please omit” notices.
- Working with hospitals, mortuaries, and cemeteries to correct and
eliminate any problems that arise.
- Cooperating with the Society of American Florists (SAF), the California State
Floral Association (CSFA), FTD, Teleflora, Extra Touch
Florists Association (ETFA), and other industry
organizations on all matters of mutual concern and advancement.
- Serving as a center of information about flowers and directing the general
public to industry authorities on questions involving floriculture, care of
flowers, and literature in the field.
- Arranging tours of fields and greenhouses for member florists, school
groups and others.
- Increasing the awareness and appreciation of flowers in every way that
presents itself.
